Our Summer Book Club is Back!

Join Us for This Fun Community Event

We're bringing back our Summer Book Club! We want to take advantage of taking time to stay in, read, watch movies, and contemplate from tree-inspired books and films we can discuss, learn, and grow from.

This year's book: Twelve Trees, by Daniel Lewis

Twelve Trees is a compelling book that offers insight into the way that humans and trees are connected historically, socially, end environmentally. Lewis draws on extensive research to highlight the importance of trees and what they can teach us about the environmental challenges humanity faces.

Lasting throughout the month of August:

  • First virtual book club discussion: Wed, August 21, 6:30PM
  • Second virtual discussion: Wed, August 28, 6:30PM
  • Lastly, we encourage the club to join that Sat, August 31 for our Summer Film Screening of My Neighbor Totoro to round off our Summer community book and film events!

Discussions will be led by Michael Pfister, a Professor at Arizona State University in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts and Trees Matter Board Chair. We look forward to an exciting group discussion about the importance of trees in our community, our country, and our world.

Bio: Professor Michael Pfister is a professional drummer and Instructor in the College of Integrative Arts and Sciences at the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus. Mr. Pfister is active in the Phoenix arts community as both a performer and facilitator with interests rooted in collaborative and multidisciplinary work.
