If an invoice date falls within 24 hours before the scheduled class, that invoice may be subject to At-The-Door pricing and can be adjusted by a VPA Administrator at anytime Multiple 'Advanced' tickets may be purchased by the registrant for a guest(s). This ticket will be used to assist with Ambassador scheduling and improve attendance keeping methods. Subject to audit by the VPA Volunteer Manager and Class Coordinator.
  • This ticket admits one (1) registrant and may be applicable to any online invoice who's purchase date falls within the 24 hours before the scheduled class. This can be processed by a VPA Administrator without the purchaser's knowledge if this criteria has been met. This ticket is also available in person at the door of the event 24 hours before the posted start time of the indicated class and is only used as a recovery method via Credit Cards. VPA Representatives that process tickets under this type are subject to audit. Multiple 'At the Door' tickets may be purchased by the registrant for a guest(s). Same restrictions apply.

diy beauty basics: soap making

If you've always wanted to try different soap-making recipes, create your own signature items for personal use, for gifts, or just learn about what goes into making a soap, this class is for you! Learn the foundations of soap making: the history behind the craft; popular cold-process * hot-process methods; how to create your own recipes (a basic soap recipe that uses readily available oils and  resources for how to adjust the recipe using different oils will be provided by the instructor); how to create signature soaps, basic aromatherapy, special soaps and what to do when your recipes need a little fine tuning.

about the instructor:

Kaesha Neil is an urban ecologist and teacher with a B.S. in Biology and Ph.D. in Plant Biology. She continually strives for greater self-sufficiency in her urban homestead and maintains a home orchard, vegetable garden and pasture. In addition to extending her harvest through food preservation methods, she explores textile methods and other DIY pursuits. In addition to teaching at the college level, Kaesha has been one of VPA's PDC instructors.

about the location:

The Global Institute of Sustainability (GIOS) is located on the Arizona State University (ASU) Tempe Campus in Wrigley Hall right on the University Dr. and College Ave. intersection (a four story brick building on the south side of University with windmills on the roof). Wrigley Hall houses GIOS, the School of Sustainability, and the Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiative, making it the epicenter of all the wonderful, innovative sustainability programs at ASU.

The class will be on the lower level in room L1-14 of Wrigley Hall. Take the elevator or the stairs down to the second floor and the room is right around the corner.


Parking is available directly north of University Dr. in the covered Fulton garage. And it's free on the weekends! Or be green and take the light rail or ride your bike. Bike locks are located just south of the building.



Not only is this event conveniently located a quick walk Veteran's Way and College stop of the light rail, it's convenient to the many shops and restaurants in downtown Tempe. Arrive early or stay late and enjoy what the area has to offer.
