Make Your Own Rain Barrel Workshop
Celebrate the monsoon rains by making your own rain barrel from a re-purposed 55-gallon barrel through VPA’s hands-on instructional workshop.
About 8 inches of rain falls in the Phoenix metro area annually and every inch of rain on a 1,000 square foot roof area yields 600 gallons of water! Why not capture that gift from the skies so you can put more of it to work in your garden? In this hands-on workshop, participants will start by learning how a rain barrel plays a role in an overall water harvesting plan. Everyone will then be guided in converting a food-grade, re-purposed 55 gallon plastic drum into a water harvester with a tap and overflow. Barrel, all materials and instruction sheet will be provided for a materials fee of $60.
